How Digital Downloads Work

Temply Studio sells digital planners, printable PDFs, SVG files, spreadsheets, templates, and other downloadable creative resources. Digital delivery means that no physical product is packed or shipped. This guide explains what to check before purchase, how to organize your order files, and how to prepare common formats for use.

What a Digital Product Purchase Includes

A digital product purchase provides the file or access method described on that product page, subject to the stated license. It does not automatically include a printed copy, tablet, app subscription, cutting machine, font license, software license, technical setup service, or custom design work.

Every listing can be different. One planner may include a single printable PDF, while another may contain multiple page sizes. An SVG bundle may provide several vector and raster formats. A spreadsheet may be intended for Microsoft Excel only. Always treat the individual listing as the source of truth.

Step 1: Review the Product Before Checkout

Digital products are easiest to use when the file format matches your device, software, and project. Before purchasing, review:

  • Included files: PDF, SVG, PNG, DXF, EPS, XLSX, a template link, or another listed format.
  • Device and software: computer, tablet, phone, PDF annotation app, cutting software, Canva, Excel, Google Sheets, or other stated application.
  • Page size and orientation: US Letter, A4, A5, portrait, landscape, or a custom dimension.
  • Product features: dated or undated, hyperlinked or standard PDF, editable or non-editable, printable or digital-use focused.
  • License: personal use or specifically stated commercial-use permissions.

Use our Digital Product Compatibility Guide when you are unsure about a format.

Step 2: Use an Accurate Email Address

Enter an email address you can access and check it carefully before completing checkout. Shopify uses the checkout email for order confirmation and related communication. Any available file-access or download instructions are provided through the method shown for the order.

After purchase, check your main inbox as well as spam, junk, updates, and promotions folders. Search for “Temply Studio” and keep the order confirmation for future reference.

Step 3: Save the Original Download

When access is provided, download the files to a location you can find easily. A dedicated folder such as “Temply Studio Orders” can prevent files from becoming mixed with temporary downloads.

Keep one unchanged original copy. Create another copy for annotation, editing, conversion, or experimentation. This protects you from accidental overwriting and makes troubleshooting easier.

Consider storing a personal backup in a reputable cloud-storage account or external drive. Backup access and storage security remain the customer's responsibility.

Step 4: Extract ZIP Folders

Large bundles are often delivered as ZIP folders. A ZIP file is a compressed container, not the final design format. Extract it before opening or importing the included items.

Windows

Right-click the ZIP file, select Extract All, choose a destination, and open the extracted folder.

macOS

Double-click the ZIP file. macOS normally creates an extracted folder in the same location.

iPhone or iPad

Open the Files app, locate the ZIP file, and tap it to create an extracted folder.

Android

Use the built-in file manager or another trusted extraction app supported by your device.

Step 5: Prepare the File for Its Intended Use

Printable PDF files

Open the PDF with a modern reader, confirm the listed paper size, and review print preview. Select actual size or another recommended setting when provided. Print one test page before printing an entire planner or workbook.

Digital planner PDFs

Import the PDF into an app specifically listed or otherwise compatible with PDF annotation. Hyperlinks may require viewing or navigation mode rather than pen mode. App subscriptions and device accessories are not included.

SVG, PNG, DXF, and EPS files

Import the format supported by your cutting or design software. SVG is a scalable vector format; PNG is a raster image and may include transparency; DXF is used by certain cutting and CAD workflows; EPS is commonly used in vector applications. Do not rely on a phone preview to determine whether an SVG is empty—many basic preview tools do not render vector files correctly.

Canva templates

Only products described as Canva templates include editing access. Sign in to the appropriate Canva account, open the supplied template link, and create a personal copy when prompted. Free and paid Canva features may differ.

Spreadsheet templates

Open the file in the software specified by the product listing. Review any instructions before changing formulas or protected areas. Make a backup before importing, converting, or uploading the spreadsheet to another platform.

Step 6: Understand the Product License

Purchasing a digital product does not transfer copyright or unrestricted ownership. The purchase grants a limited right to use the file under the applicable license. You may not share original downloads, distribute template links, upload source files to public libraries, or resell lightly modified versions.

Commercial use applies only when stated on the product page. Read the Temply Studio Digital Product License before using files in products for sale.

Step 7: Troubleshoot Without Damaging the Original

If a file fails to open or import, test an unchanged copy. Confirm that the download completed, the ZIP folder was extracted, your software supports the format, and your device has enough storage. Update the relevant app and restart the device when needed.

Our Digital Download Troubleshooting Guide covers PDF, ZIP, SVG, Canva, spreadsheet, browser, and email-access issues in more detail.
